A “new” diet called the Master Cleanse Diet says that its weight loss results are ‘outstanding.’ The Master Cleanse Diet (also known as the Lemonade Diet) is making big waves from health gurus to famous celebrities (most notably Beyonce Knowles) – but is the Master Cleanse Diet all its cracked up to be?
First of all – the Master Cleanse Diet is not new. It was developed in the 1970’s and has recently experienced a new surge in popularity due to the results many celebrities have openly talked about. The diet is based on a mixture of lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. While this may sound like an odd combination (who has maple syrup on a diet?), the results have been surprising.
Master Cleanser enthusiasts state that this particular mixture is the key to cleansing the blood, kidneys, liver, colon and intestines, as well as removing the long-term build-up of toxins in the body. In addition to the cleansing, many users report losing vast amounts of weight – some as much as 20 lbs in less than a week!
While the main premise of the Master Cleanse Diet is that it is supposed to level out the body while intensely detoxifying the system over a period of ten to 40 days, the weight loss is a pleasant additional benefit for many. Many have also claimed that they do not regain their weight after completing the cleanse, just a little water weight. This is believed to be due to the craving for healthier foods such as fruits and vegetables in an effort to maintain the “clean” feeling and high energy level they experienced as part of the cleanse.
